How to Install and Set Up Your Linerless Printer, Step by Step
Share
Installing a linerless printer is simple, provided you follow a few steps. Here is the procedure to be operational in just a few minutes, whether you have a Star Micronics or an Epson.
1. Check the contents and format
First, make sure your roll matches the width accepted by the printer (40, 58, or 80 mm) and that it is indeed linerless paper. Our linerless rolls indicate width, diameter, and core size.
2. Load the roll
Open the cover, place the roll as indicated (thermal side facing the print head), pull out a few centimeters of paper, and close it. On linerless models like the Star Micronics mC-Label3, the paper path is designed for linerless paper, without the classic pressure roller that needs silicone cleaning.
3. Connect the printer
Choose the connection that suits your cash register: USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. The TSP143IV SK and the Epson TM-L100 cover most cases.
4. Install the driver or utility
Download the manufacturer’s utility (Star Quick Setup or Epson) to adjust speed, contrast, and cutting. This is also where you calibrate label detection.
5. Calibrate and test
Run a test print and calibrate the gap between labels so the cut falls in the right place. Adjust the contrast if the barcode is not clear.
6. Configure in your POS software
Select the printer as the label or receipt device depending on the use. Remember to set the correct label format.
